How Do I Design a Certificate of Recognition? thumbnail
Make a certificate of recognition to encourage workers or students.

Giving rewards and recognition to students and workers can help motivate them and give them incentives to be more productive. Some leaders and companies reward workers with money, and others prefer non-monetary recognition. One way you can reward someone for a job well done is with a certificate of recognition.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a blank document in a word processing program. Change the orientation of the document to "Landscape" instead of portrait view. Set your alignment to "Center" so that everything you type will center itself on the page. Set your document margins to at least 1.5 inches on all sides to ensure that your words fit inside your certificate paper's frame.

    • 2

Enter "Certificate of Recognition" at the top of the page. Make it bold, and choose an old-style font such as Old English Text MT. Make the rest of the text on the certificate a standard font such as Arial or Times New Roman.

    • 3

Go to the next line, and type in "Presented To." Press "Enter" again, and type in the recipient's name in capital letters with bold type.

    • 4

Enter why you're presenting this certificate of recognition to the named recipient. For instance, "Recognizing His Commitment to Fostering Teamwork and Cultural Diversity at ABC Company."

    • 5

Go to the next line, and enter "Certificate Awarded By." Enter your organization or individual name or logo on the following line so the recipient knows exactly who has bestowed him this honor.

    • 6

Type in the day and date in this format: "This Day the 15th of January 2011."

    • 7

Save the certificate of recognition, and print it on your certificate paper.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some word processors, such as Microsoft Word, also offer free templates with pre-made certificates---all you have to do is replace the preset text with your specifics.
