How do I Apply Vinyl Cement Patch 1133?

Vinyl cement patch 1133 is sold under the name QUIKRET. The product is used to make thin repairs on any horizontal concrete surface. It is also used for tuckpointing, repairing concrete foundations, patching stucco walls and laying various patio stones. QUIKRET is available in white or gray.

Things You'll Need

  • Broom
  • Shop vac
  • Water
  • Steel trowel
  • Polyethylene film (optional)
  • Clean up any loose material with a broom and shop vacuum. Wash the area to be patched with water or the company's product number 8601.

  • Measure out 7 parts of water to 1 part of QUIKRET. Stir the water into the powder slowly. The mix must be used within 30 minutes, so mix in smaller batches so nothing will go to waste.

  • Wet the area to be repaired, but do not let the water puddle.

  • Use a steel trowel to apply the mix onto the surface and then over-fill the hole.

  • Apply in layers 1/4-inch thick for deep holes.

  • Use the trowel to scrape away the excess and smooth out the top.

  • Wash the trowel as soon as you are done.

  • Cover the patch with polyethylene film if the weather is hot, dry or windy. Let the patch sit for 24 hours before walking on it and for three days before driving over it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use QUIKRET only when the temperature is above 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not add in extra water or the patch will not hold and do not mix with anything but water. Do not use in cracks less than 1/8-inch deep. Do not apply to a surface that has had oil spilled on it or on any painted surfaces.
