Scrapbooking is a method of preserving personal and family memories in a scrapbook. This includes, photos, certificates and art, and they are usually decorated with designs, shapes, and colors. Digital scrapbooking is creating scrapbook pages on a computer program. The most common programs to use while digital scrapbooking is Adobe Photoshop or Corel Paint Shop Pro. These programs have the capabilities to create templates and store all of your pictures and graphics.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a blank page in the program by going to File > New. A new pop-up box will open requesting the dimensions and colors of your new page. Use these directions for both Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro.

    • 2

Set the page to be around 16 inches by 16 inches.

    • 3

Set the background to be a dark gray color and the canvas (or foreground) to be a light gray color. The dark gray will later represent the placement of your pictures and other items that will go into your scrapbook. The placement and color can be changed at a later date. This is only for template purposes.

    • 4

Fill the entire page with the light gray color with the paint bucket tool. This will change the entire page to one color.

    • 5

Using the line tool, draw a vertical line going straight down the center of the page using the measurements at the bottom of the page. This will separate the pages into a double page template.

    • 6

Draw shapes on your pages using the shape tools. You will use this as places for your photographs. Make sure that the shapes are colored using the dark gray color specified in the beginning.

    • 7

Add shapes and clip art to your pages. You can either add your own clip art or built in shapes by using the shape tool.

    • 8

Write a title for your pages using the letter tool. Experiment with colors, fonts, and sizes.

    • 9

Save the template with the name "template" in the title. Make sure to save it as either a Photoshop file or a Paint Shop file so your fonts and designs won't be altered.
