How Do I Install and Uninstall Software?
You can uninstall a program after it has outlived its usefulness. The proper uninstallation of a program doesn't just remove the program from the hard drive. It also removes the application's icons and other software-related configurations stored on the system. Before installing software, close any programs that are currently running on the system. In addition, make sure the computer meets the software's system requirements. For instance, some programs can't run on an operating system that is older than Windows XP. Other programs may require a minimum memory requirement to operate.

Click on the download link if you're downloading software from the Internet. If you're installing software from a disc or a folder saved on the computer, select the "Run" or "Install" option from the AutoPlay window or locate the executable file (e.g., example.exe) and double-click on it to initiate the installation process.

Click "Run," if prompted by the browser's security dialog window. Click "Run" again, if prompted by the computer's security dialog window.

Read and accept the user agreement. Most software programs require you to accept the user agreement before installation will begin.

Pick a save location. Most software programs will attempt to install in the "Program Files" folder on the C: drive. To select another location, click on the "Browse" option and select a new save location.

Check or uncheck the "Desktop icons" option, depending whether you want a desktop icon of the application to appear on your desktop.
