How to Sync Wireless Attachments

Sync wireless attachments to your computer with Bluetooth.

Sync or pair wireless attachments to a computer with Bluetooth. Wireless mice, keyboards and some printers are equipped with Bluetooth transmitters to communicate with the Bluetooth card in your desktop or laptop computer. Your computer will need a built-in Bluetooth card or Bluetooth adapter to sync wireless attachments. Fully charge your attachment or install batteries before you start the pairing process.

Instructions

1. Find the Bluetooth icon near the system clock on your desktop. The Bluetooth icon looks similar to the letter B. Click on it to bring up an options menu.

2. Choose "Turn Bluetooth On" from the menu if you're using a Macintosh. Choose "Start Bluetooth" on a Windows computer.

3. Turn on your wireless attachment or device according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you're pairing a phone, you'll have to navigate to your Bluetooth menu and make the device discoverable.

4. Wait for the computer and the device to recognize each other. This may take a few seconds. A sync or pairing window will appear on the computer and possibly on the device.

5. Verify the pass code on the computer matches the pass code on your device, if applicable. This is generally only necessary for devices like phones and printers.

6. Click "OK" or similar, depending on your device, to accept the connection. The device is now synced to your computer and will automatically connect whenever it's in range.

Tips & Warnings

• If you don't see the Bluetooth icon near the system clock, open "System Preferences" in Mac and click on the icon there. In Windows, go to the "Start" menu then "Programs" and "Services." Click on the Bluetooth icon to start the service.

• Bluetooth has a range of about 30 feet. Keep your device within range of your computer when you're attempting the pair.
