How do I Donate a Car to Disabled Vets?
If you want to do something to help disabled veterans, you can donate a car. According to Purple Heart Cars, it does not even matter if the car is running or not when you make the donation. Typically cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles and aircraft can all be donated to disabled veterans. When you donate a car to disabled veterans, you can also qualify for a tax write-off for the charitable donation.

1
Clean out your vehicle and start it to see if it runs or not. While charities will accept a running or non-running car, you need to be able to tell them if it runs or not when you make the donation.
-
2
Select a disabled veterans charitable organization for your donation. Both Purple Heart Cars and Cars 4 Disabled Vets are organizations that are run by disabled veterans and support disabled veterans. The organizations specialize in car donations for disabled veterans.

3
Contact the organization to arrange for a pick up of your car. The charity will arrange for a your car to be towed from your home, or other location, back to their donation center.
-
4
Sign your car title over to the organization when the car is picked up for towing to the charity.
-
5
Wait for a receipt by mail from the charity for your donation. You need the receipt in order to claim the donation on your taxes.
