How to Reconfigure Internet Options With Wireless

Sometimes a wireless network causes problems for a computer. In that case, a computer might fail to connect to the network or the network itself might stop connecting to the Internet. Microsoft Windows lets you troubleshoot the connection. If that doesn't help, you will have to reconfigure the wireless network or reinstall it.

Instructions

  1. Remove the Wireless Network

    • 1

Click the "Start" menu and go to "Control Panel."

    • 2

Click "Network and Internet" and select "Network and Sharing Center."

    • 3

Click the "Manage Wireless Networks" link from the left pane. You will see a window listing all the wireless networks that are configured on your computer.

    • 4

Right-click on the network you wish to reconfigure and select "Remove Network." Click "Yes" on the confirmation dialog box that appears. This will remove the network from the list.

    Reconnect to the Wireless Network

    • 5

Click the network icon in the notification area. You will see a list of all of the wireless networks that are currently in range of your computer.

    • 6

Click the network that you removed in the previous section and click the "Connect" button.

    • 7

Enter the security key if asked and click the "OK" button. The network you are trying to connect might be protected by a security key. If you don't know the key, ask your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
