How to Find Out If a Firm Is FDA Registered

Save

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the federal agency responsible for making sure that food, drugs and other consumer products are safe to use. The FDA keeps an up-to-date database of all of the firms that are registered with it and regulated by it. The database is easy to search and user-friendly. However, the more you know about the firm you are researching, the easier your search process will be.

Log on to the FDA's database for Establishment Registration and Device Listing (see Resources).

Enter your search criteria. The more information you provide, the more successful your search will be.

Click "Search."

Find the firm's name in the search results. Registered firms will be listed with their registration number and the current year of registration.

Tips & Warnings

  • The FDA's website warns that "Registration of a device establishment or assignment of a registration number does not in any way denote approval of the establishment or its products."
