Wireless print servers connect to wireless networks.

Wireless print servers are gaining popularity because they can manage print jobs from several different computers. You can add a wireless or wired USB printer to most models of wireless print servers, and most servers can accommodate more than one printer. Instructions

    • 1

Gather the WAP or WEP pass code you established when you installed your wireless router.

    • 2

Run an Ethernet cable from any open port in the wireless router to the print server. This is a temporary connection while you configure the print server. Don't plug the print server in yet.

    • 3

Make sure the network printer is turned on and ready to print. If it's wired, connect the USB cable to the wireless print server. If it's a wireless printer, the server will auto-detect it during configuration.

    • 4

Plug in the wireless print server and insert the print server installation disc into your computer. The configuration wizard should automatically start. If it doesn't, double-click on the server icon that appears on your desktop.

    • 5

Fill in the wireless network pass code and network name when prompted by the installation wizard. You may also set up security settings according to the instructions given in the user manual or in the wizard.

    • 6

Open your word processing program, and open an existing document.

    • 7

Click "Print" from under the "File" menu, and select the wireless print server. It will be listed under "Available Printers."

    • 8

Print the document. Your print server is installed. Run the installation disc on any other network computers that will print to the server. Otherwise, they won't be able to send data to the printer.
