How do I Provide Intercessory Prayer?
Intercessory prayer is simply petitioning God on behalf of someone else. According to All About Prayer, "The background for understanding this calling to priestly intercession is found in the Old Testament example of the Levitical priesthood." God established the priesthood to intercede for the Hebrew people. Based on the New Testament scripture 1 Peter 2:4 that declares Christians are a holy priesthood, any Christian has both the ability and responsibility to intercede for others.

1
Identify the prayer need. Usually, these needs will be shared with you by the individual as a personal confidence or shared with the local church. Other intercessory prayer mandates in the Bible include prayers for leaders, ministers, fellow countrymen, the sick, the church and enemies.

2
Identify scriptures that address the situation, and base your prayers on these. For example, if you are praying for someone to gain wisdom, you might use Proverbs 2.

Pray fervently. Pray for others with the same energy and enthusiasm that you would pray for yourself. When interceding, you should identify with the person and the situation as much as possible and be fully confident that God will hear your prayer.
