How to Use Eye Glue

How to Use Eye Glue thumbnail
Creased eyelids can be created from uncreased eyelids using eye glue.

Eye glue is a cosmetic adhesive used to create a double eyelid out of a single eyelid. A double eyelid has a crease visible in the eyelid when the eye is open---and a single eyelid is an eyelid with no visible crease. Eye glue is popular in Asia and is also known as eyelid glue, double eyelid glue and eyelid resin. Eye glue works by allowing the eyelid to fold in on itself and stay there, giving the appearance of a crease. The adhesive is water soluble, dries clear---and makeup can be applied over the top of it so it can be completely invisible. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the eyelids with a makeup cloth or makeup remover. Any grease, makeup or dirt will cause the eye glue to adhere poorly and work improperly.

    • 2

Prod the eyelid lightly with the plastic eyelid prod that comes with the glue. Hold the prod with the curve in the fork curved in the same direction as the curve of the eyeball. Close the eye and push inward on the eyelid until a crease appears. Open the eye and blink to get rid of the crease. Remember where the crease will appear in relation to the whole eyelid, as this is where the glue will need to be applied.

    • 3

Apply a light coat of glue on the eyelid where the crease will be and slightly above and below. Wipe the brush before applying to get rid of any extra eye glue and prevent dripping. Allow the glue to dry enough that it turns translucent.

    • 4

Recreate the crease using the eyelid prod. Use the end of the prod that isn't forked to make adjustments. Hold the eye open for a minute to allow the glue to set. Try not to blink while the glue is setting.

    • 5

Repeat the steps with the second eyelid. Take special care to make the creases in the eyes look the same and be as symmetrical as possible.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although eye glue is water soluble, avoid getting the glue on an eyeball. Hardened glue could damage and irritate.
