How to Run Scandisk From DOS
If you wanted to store five megabytes of computer data in 1970, you would have used a hard drive consisting of 50 unique disks enclosed in a cabinet the size of a cupboard. Today's hard drives are smaller, faster and more efficient, but they are not perfect. Errors occur on a hard drive's surface as you use it over time. If you use Windows 95 or Windows 98, run Microsoft's ScanDisk utility from DOS and check your drive for errors.
