How do I Update a Mio GPS?

Go to the Mio website, then click the "Products" tab on the top of the page.

Click "Map Updates" under the "Products" heading, located on the left side of the page.

Choose how you would like to update. Register with Mio Advantage if you have purchased your GPS unit within the past 30 days. This entitles you to one free map update, if one is available. Otherwise, select an individual update, regional map update or the Mio Total Refresh Pack.

Select the series of GPS you are using, as well as the name of the device, from the drop-down menus. You are shown a list of updates available for your device.

Choose the update you want, then click "Buy Now." Enter and submit your payment information, and the update will be sent to you.

Go to the Mio website, and click the "Support" tab at the top of the page.

Click the link under the "Downloads" heading. Select your GPS device from the list that appears. Look under the "Description" heading for any available updates. Choose the update you want, then click "Download."

Plug your GPS device into your computer via the included USB cable. Double-click on the file you have downloaded. Your device is automatically detected, and the update is applied.

I logged on to the mio web site, clicked products, but "Map Updates" was not an option. Maybe there is a different MIO web site than I got on to. Maybe the author could provide a URL address in his article. If Mio wants a piece of the market they should make it easy to update and buy maps for their mapping and plotting products.
