How to Fix a Corrupt AVI File
AVI (Audio Video Interleave) files are movie files that are playable in Windows Media Player and are fairly common on the Internet. They can be difficult to fix if they become corrupted, but a number of programs available online make repairing these files easy.

Go to http://divxrepair.sourceforge.net/ and download the repair software, called divx repair. Unzip the file and follow the install instructions to set up the software. Then open the program and add the corrupted files to the list by using the "Add Files" button. Then click on "Repair Files." The software will repair the damaged files and then save the new, uncorrupted files in the same directory as the old file.

Go to http://www.avi-previewer.com/ and download the AVI Previewer software. Download and install the file to the computer, and then open the program. Select the "Advanced" menu on the lower left-hand corner of the program. On the side, under "Files," click on "Add File" and add the corrupted AVI files to the program. Then, click on "Fix Files" under the "Fix" menu. The file will then be saved with the fixes.

Go to http://divfixpp.sourceforge.net/ and download and install the free divfix++ program onto the computer. Then open the program and click on "Add Files" on the bottom menu. Select if the original files should be kept on the lower right-hand corner, as well as choosing if the errors should be recorded in the log and if the bad parts should be cut out or not. Then click on "Fix" and wait for the program to finish fixing the files.
