How do I Display the Address Bar & Standard Buttons Together in Internet Explorer?
Internet Explorer 8 was launched in 2009 and boasts a range of security features unavailable in previous versions. It has a more modern appearance and uses tabbed browser windows in a way similar to Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. By default, the toolbars are not visible, meaning that it is not always easy to find familiar menus and toolbars. It is possible to change this, however, and make IE8 much more user friendly for anyone who has upgraded from an earlier version.

1
Open Internet Explorer, either from the "Start" menu or by clicking the shortcut icon on your desktop. Internet Explorer opens with the address bar visible across the top and the home page visible in the main window. A tab for the home page appears underneath the address bar.
-
2
Right-click on any blank, gray area of the tool bar next to the home page tab. A shortcut menu appears, and from here you can choose which buttons and menus you want to make visible. Make sure you don't click on the tab itself, as this opens a different set of options.

3
Click "Menu Bar" from the shortcut menu opened in the last step. Internet Explorer puts a check mark next to the menu name and opens the familiar menu, with "File," "View," "Edit" and "Favorites" commands, above the tabs bar.
-
4
Right-click on the gray area next to the home page tab again, and from the shortcut menu that opens click "Command Bar." The "Command" toolbar containing a number of icons, including "Home," "Feeds," "Print" and "Tools" opens. You may see more commands than these, depending on how your computer is configured.
-
5
Right-click a blank area of the toolbar again and choose "Customize" from the shortcut menu. A "Customize" submenu opens that allows you to change the display options. If you want the buttons to display without any text, choose "Show Only Icons" from this menu.
-
6
Click "Add or Remove Commands" from the "Customize" shortcut menu to open the "Customize Toolbar" dialogue box. A list of "Available Toolbar Buttons" is shown in the left pane, and "Current Toolbar Buttons" appears in the right pane. You can add, remove and reorder buttons to customize the display by selecting the name of the button you want to add in the left pane and clicking "Add" to move it to the "Current Toolbar Buttons" list.

Tips & Warnings
A popular button to add is "Text size"; this allows you to quickly change the size of the text in a compatible Web page. Another popular choice is "In-Private Browsing," which prevents viewed pages from appearing in the browser's history.
It is easy to make the interface look cluttered by having too many toolbars open. Limit the number of toolbars to those you actually use.
