How to Do a Snake Twist Hair Style
The snake twist, otherwise known as a snake braid or curly braid, is a variation on the classic English braid. The snake twist is usually accomplished by braiding the hair in an English braid, then tightening the braid into snake-like curls and pinned to the side of the head or tucked into a ponytail. The snake twist can add a cute variation to most long or medium hairstyles. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Spray hair with a detangler, then brush with a brush or wide-toothed comb to get rid of any knots or frizz. This will keep the snake twist from getting tangled or fraying.
-
2
Take a small piece of hair and split it into three even sections, as if you’re going to create a regular braid. Braid the hair by taking the two outermost sections, one at a time, and crossing them over the center section. Continue doing this until almost the entire piece of hair is braided.

Hold the center section of the braid with one hand, and with the other hand pinch the other two sections and push the braid up. This will cause the braid to compress, creating the signature snake look of the snake twist. Keep pushing the braid up until the braid has reached the desired tightness and look.
-
4
Secure the snake twist to the side of the head with bobby pins or a hair clip. The snake twist can also be tucked into a ponytail or side bun with a hair tie, and decorated with a ribbon.

Tips & Warnings
Avoid trying to braid bang or fringe hair with a snake twist, as it might turn out too short to clip to the side of the head.
Avoid using hair with layers to create a snake twist, because this might cause the hair to fray.
