Instructions

  1. Taking Proper Measurements

    • 1

Position your tape measure at your navel and measure the fullest area of your waist. Although most will measure the natural curve of a woman's waistline, the jeans waistband finishes below the curved shaped.

    • 2

Measure your hip by placing the tape measure around the fullest area of your hip line. Although this measurement is generally taken 7- to 8- inches below the waist, your height impacts the position of your tape measure. If you are 5'5" tall or less, measure 7 inches below your waist. If you are 5'6" tall or more, measure 9 inches below the waist. The length of your torso will also impact the exact distance.

Do not use the navel as your waistline guide point for this measurement.

    • 3

Measure the inseam by measuring from the crotch to the bottom of the leg cuff.

    • 4

Jot down the dimensions in a notepad. You will need to refer to your dimensions when selecting the right fit for your body type.

Choosing the Right Silhouette for your Body Type.

    • 5

Review the silhouette styles offered on the US.Levi.com website such as the boyfriend cut which has more room at the hip and waist. There is also an optional online quiz to find your Levi Curve ID on the website homepage to help guide you with sizing as well.

    • 6

Click on each style and review the jean silhouette cut such as legging, skinny, straight, boot cut or flare. There are also shaped fit silhouettes such as a slight-, demi-, or bold-curve fit. According to Levi.com, "It's about shape not size."

    • 7

Click on your chosen jean style keeping your body type in mind. For instance, those with fuller midriffs selecting a low rise jean style will accentuate the fullness around the midriff by the cut-off shape below the waistline. Choose a boot cut jean that has a wider waistline and will camouflage the fullness.

    • 8

Review your selected style and read the fit descriptions. There is a photo enlargement of the style along with side and back views. It is also important to review all photos, the Levi size scale and compare it with your body measurements. This will give you the most accurate Levi fit and size selection.

    • 9

Choose the stonewash color such as light, medium or dark to complement your figure. For example, camouflage fuller hips with a dark stonewash.
