How Do I Check on a GED Score?

The General Education Development, or GED, tests your knowledge of general high school subjects. If you did not finish high school, the GED substitutes for a diploma and can help you to enter college or to get certain jobs. Each state has its own regulations for the GED, including what constitutes a passing grade and how you can receive a copy of your test score. If you want to know if you passed the GED exam, you'll have to check on your score with the state department responsible for testing.

Instructions

1. Visit the American Council on Education (ACE) website to find your state's agency responsible for administering the GED. The ACE is the organization that gives the GED exam. Typically, you'll find out about your state's regulations from the State Department of Education, though it may be different in some places. The link in the resources section will help you find this.

2. Print out the application for requesting your GED test results. You'll find this on the state's website.

3. Mail the completed form to the state. Follow the website's instructions on where to send your request. Include a check for the payment, if required.

Tips & Warnings

• If you just need a test score and not something official, try contacting the testing center where you took the test. They may be able to give you your score.
