How to Jog Paper for a Copier

A paper jogger can help improve a copier's quality.

To jog paper for a copier means to get the paper as straight and as square as possible. Having paper loaded into a copier that is as straight as possible may help to improve copy registration and decrease paper misfeeds and jams. While most copier users do not concern themselves with jogging paper before loading it into a copier, those who demand superior copy quality or use high speed copiers use joggers fairly often.

Instructions

1. Load paper into the paper jogger. If the capacity of your paper jogger will allow, putting in the same amount of paper into the jogger that will fit into the copier paper tray will help ensure that all the paper in the copier's paper tray are square.

2. Turn on the jogger. The jogger will vibrate quickly as it squares up the paper.

3. Carefully remove the paper from the jogger when the paper is squared. Removing the paper quickly or carelessly may undo the work the jogger completed.

4. Load paper into the copier's paper tray.

5. Adjust the paper tray guides and close the paper tray. At this point, your copier will have square and straight paper to begin making copies with.
