How to Get Job With an Overseas Military Contractor

How to Get Job With an Overseas Military Contractor thumbnail
Millitary contractors are involved with many military operations with significantly higher pay than the uniformed military.

With the increased operational tempo of the United States Armed Forces, the Department of Defense and the Department of State have signed contracts with military contractors. These companies generally provide static security to important facilities, and supply security to convoys and personal protection to VIPs. Many military operations rely heavily on military contractors, but these contractors receive higher pay and have a better quality of life.

Instructions

    • 1

Gain experience in the military or law enforcement. Many jobs with military contractors require at least three years of experience in military or law enforcement. While experience in special operations will help, it is not required.

    • 2

Develop physical fitness. Military contractors require their employees to maintain a high level of fitness. Work on push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, running and weight training.

    • 3

Develop marksmanship skills. You will be required to use firearms as part of your job with a military contractor. You should be able to shoot with accuracy under stress.

    • 4

Receive advanced tactical training. Many military contractors have a training program they require all of their employees to go through when hired; however, there are open enrollment tactical training programs from companies such as Xe International. Be careful when selecting a company for training as many contractors have inconsistent track records. Xe, for instance, has the most experience, but was accused of inappropriate use of firearms in several instances in Iraq when they were known as Blackwater.

While this step is not required, any extra training and experience will increase your chances of being hired by a military contractor.
