Rinse your hair in the shower instead of washing it every day. Apply a light conditioner to keep your hair healthy and shiny, then rinse out with cool water. Avoid using hot water, which fades hair color faster.

Wash your hair once or twice a week with an all-natural, sulfate-free shampoo. Sulfates fade hair color faster.

Spray your wet hair every day before styling with ultraviolet protection spray to keep the sun from fading your hair. Wear classic, gothic-inspired hats during the day when sun exposure is impossible to avoid.

Mix a small amount of dye--only the pre-mixed temporary dye--with your shampoo and conditioner. Every time you wash and condition, it will leave a subtle color deposit and freshen your color.

Vegetable-based dyes do no damage to your hair. To keep the color lasting longer, apply the dye to your hair at night and wear a shower cap to bed. In the morning, rinse the dye out. Only do this with pre-mixed dyes like Manic Panic and Beyond the Zone.
