How to Put a Thermal Ionic Permanent Hair Straightener Over No-Lye Relaxer

Get your hair straight with the Thermal Ionic hair straightening system.

The Thermal Ionic Hair straightening system is a non-harsh way to get your curly or frizzy hair straight for six to nine months at a time. You can use the system on hair that has been previously chemically treated with a no-lye relaxer. However, you cannot use the system on hair that has been relaxed with lye chemicals. If you are not sure of whether or not the last relaxer you used contained lye, you should contact the product manufacturer to verify.

Things You'll Need

• Shampoo
• Conditioner
• Wide tooth comb
• Thermal Ionic system
• Plastic cap
• Blow dryer
• Flat iron

Instructions

1. Remove residue from your hair by thoroughly shampooing with a clarifying shampoo. Follow up by applying a thermal leave-in conditioner.

2. Start parting your hair into small sections, beginning at the nape of your neck and working your way to the front hairline area.

3. Apply a generous amount of the Thermal Ionic Step 1 lotion to each of the parted sections. When applying the lotion, it should be applied 1/2 inch from the roots of your hair strands and extend all the way to your ends.

4. Use a wide-tooth comb to comb the lotion through your hair. This will ensure that all of your hair is saturated with the product. When combing, start 1/2 inch from your scalp to avoid scalp irritation.

5. Cover your head with a plastic wrap or cap for 7 to 30 minutes, depending upon your hair type. Read the instructions that came with the straightening kit to determine the exact time limit for your hair texture.

6. Remove the plastic cap from your hair. Use lukewarm water to rinse all of the Thermal Ionic Step 1 lotion from your hair.

7. Blow dry your hair. Do not blow dry your hair until it is completely dry, only enough for the hair to remain slightly damp.

8. Part your hair into small sections again, beginning at the nape of your neck and working your way to the front hairline area.

9. Use a flat iron to straighten each section of hair.

10. Part your hair in small sections again.

11. Apply the Step 2 Neutralizer onto all of the hair that has been straightened with the flat iron. Use a wide-tooth comb to come the neutralizer through your hair from the roots to the ends. After you have finished applying the neutralizer over all of your hair, allow it to set for 7 minutes.

12. Rinse the neutralizer from your hair with lukewarm water. You can now blow dry your hair and style as desired.
