How do I Learn About Human Movement? thumbnail
The way humans move is something that interests many people.

Every human has a body, so it is not surprising that so many people love to learn about how the body moves. Some people are interested in how it moves in relation to other parts of the body. Others are interested in the different things the muscles can do. Human movement is so interesting to people, that it is frequently offered as a major at many universities (kinesiology). To learn the basic elements of human movement, there are many things you can do.

Instructions

    • 1

Check out your local library or bookstore to find books related to human movement. Ask for help from an employee so you can find exactly what you want. If you are only interested in how the muscles work, you can find a book that is primarily about muscle movement and does not fully explain other elements of the body.

    • 2

Go to your local community college or university and see if they have a human-movement class that you can take. If not, ask them if they know of another class that will help you understand the way the body moves, such as a kinesiology course. You can also take a class online or at night.

    • 3

Talk to a local sports therapist and ask if he will allow you to spend a day with him. Sports therapy is one of the potential careers that many kinesiologists follow.

    • 4

Stand in front of a mirror and do simple exercises. Watch the way that your muscles move and flex in relation to the action you are completing. You should be able to notice the basic muscle structure when you flex certain muscles, especially those in your arms and calves.

    • 5

See if there is a local kinesiology or human movement club in you area. If not, you might be able to start one and get the word out by speaking with someone at your city hall.
