Instructions

    • 1

Take a bath or shower to soften your skin, but keep the temperature of the water you are using warm or at room temperature. Hot water often increases the dryness of the skin and makes it more painful.

    • 2

Let your skin soak in the water until it is soft and doesn't feel dry. Make sure the skin that is dry is under the water, so if your scalp is dry keep your head back and in the water.

    • 3

Pat yourself dry with a soft towel, but don't rub your skin. This will only irritate the dry skin.

    • 4

Apply the prescription lotion or gel onto the affected areas of skin in a thin, even layer. Spread the lotion or gel gently onto your skin.

    • 5

Move your hair out of the way of the dry areas on your scalp, if there are any. Parting your hair with a comb is a good way to expose this part of the scalp.

    • 6

Rub some of the lotion into your scalp with your fingers. Apply lotion to each dry spot of your scalp in the same way.

    • 7

Let the gel or lotion dry completely. One hour after it dries you can wash your hair or skin like normal if you want.

Tips & Warnings

  • Apply the lotion right before going to bed so you don't have to worry about getting wet before your skin can dry.

  • Do not begin using prescription medication without consulting your doctor.
