How Do I Get a Car Tag in Rockmart, Georgia?

Georgia requires all cars to have a valid, state-issued rear license plate. The Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) issues car tags for all vehicles in the state. New residents must obtain a Georgia tag within 30 days of moving to Georgia. Drivers also have 30 days after purchase to register a car that requires tags. Failure to properly tag a car within 30 days is punishable by a fine that has been capped at $100 (as of August 2010). Rockmart residents can apply for car tags at the Polk County Tax Commissioner's office.
