How do I Convert Dollars to EU or GB Pounds? thumbnail
Stores across the UK accept pound sterling currency.

The United Kingdom stands out among its European peers in its refusal to adopt the euro standard of currency. Many other prominent European countries, including France and Spain, employ the euro as their primary currency; however, the UK continues to use the pound sterling standard as its currency. In order to convert dollars into either currency amount, you must know the latest exchange rates, which fluctuate daily.

Instructions

    • 1

Look up the latest exchange rates between dollars, euros and pounds. For example, assume the latest dollar-to-euro exchange rate is one dollar per .774 euros and the rate between dollars and pounds is one dollar per .641 pounds.

    • 2

Multiply the number of dollar you want to convert into another unit by the exchange rates you found in Step 1. In the example, if you wanted to convert $10 into euros or pounds, you would multiply 10 by .774 and .641 respectively.

    • 3

Change the units on the products you found in Step 2 to euros and pounds. In the example, your final result would be 7.74 euros and 6.41 pounds.
