How do I Convert Open Office Writer to Microsoft Word?
Text documents that are written using OpenOffice.org are able to be converted into other types of files, This allows you to view them in other word processing programs, such as Microsoft Word. This is especially useful if you need to view a file that was created on your home computer. Converting an OpenOffice.org Writer file will allow you to view it at work or on another computer that only has Microsoft Word installed.

Double-click the OpenOffice.org Writer icon on your desktop to open the program. Alternatively, you may also click the Start button and select "All Programs."

Click the File drop down and select the "Open..." option. Locate the OpenOffice file or document to convert and then click the "Open" button.

Click the File drop down again and select the "Save As..." option. This will display the Save As dialog box.

Click the Save as Type drop down and select the "Microsoft Word" file type for the version of Word that you want to use.

Enter a name for the file in the File name text box and then click the "Save" button. Click the "Yes" button when the warning box appears. OpenOffice.org Writer will then convert the document into the Microsoft Word format.

Close OpenOffice.org writer and then open the saved file in Microsoft Word.
