Quicken 2008 Tutorial

Don't be intimidated to learn Quicken.

Quicken 2008 provides personal and business financial management software you can use to manage investment accounts, stocks, checking accounts and other funds. Quicken is available for both Mac and PC users. You have several options for Quicken tutorials, so choose the best option for your learning method or pick an option that you can afford. Learning Quicken 2008 may take time, depending on how comfortable you are picking up new technology.

Instructions

1. Watch free Quicken 2008 video tutorials from Quicken Community (see Resources). These tutorials cover getting started in Quicken, changes to the 2008 version of Quicken, adding accounts to Quicken and managing investments. Whether you're a new Quicken user or someone who upgraded to 2008 from an older version, these free video tutorials can get you started.

2. Purchase "Quicken 2008: The Missing Manual" for text-based Quicken 2008 tutorials and help (see Resources). This book offers step-by-step instructions for recording transactions, creating accounts, managing data files, updating accounts and other aspects of Quicken. Use "Quicken 2008: The Missing Manual" as a stand-alone tutorial or in conjunction with video tutorials or your Quicken 2008 user manual.

3. Purchase a video tutorial to learn Quicken 2008 if you need additional support (see Resources). These videos are expensive---both VTC and Hyperteach offer Quicken 2008 for $99---but offer step-by-step advice for every action available in Quicken.

4. Check adult education centers near you to see whether any offer Quicken 2008 tutorials. These classes will not be free, but they offer personalized instruction from a teacher. This is a good method for those who are not comfortable learning new software programs and need a guide.
