How to Install Two Anti-viruses

Computer viruses are one of the most prevalent dangers a computer is exposed to when it is connected to the Internet. Viruses can corrupt data, delete files and spread from one computer to another. Because of this threat, there are many anti-virus programs available that prevent viruses from downloading on to the computer and remove viruses already on the computer. With such a threat, some users may want to download more than one anti-virus program. Unfortunately, anti-virus programs often conflict with each other, causing computer instability. Still, it is possible to download more than one anti-virus program to a computer and avoid instability.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install the first anti-virus program, following the on-screen instructions for installation. This anti-virus program should have active protection as a feature.

    • 2

Shut down the first anti-virus program.

    • 3

Download and install the second anti-virus program, following the on-screen directions for installation. This anti-virus program should not have active protection as a feature. If it does, change the program's settings so that the active protection feature does not automatically start up when the program is opened.

    • 4

Shut down the anti-virus program without active protection (or with it turned off) and restart the one with it (or with it turned on).

Tips & Warnings

  • Use one anti-virus program for active protection and scanning. Use the second for scanning only.

  • Set the anti-virus program without active protection (or the one which you turned active protection off) to not automatically start when the computer boots up.

  • Running two anti-virus programs at the same time can cause computer instability. Shut down one before turning the other one on.
