How to Knit a Half Round or Round Rug
Few home décor items can equal the handmade comfort of a knitted rug. For DIY crafters, this comfort is accentuated by the pride of making something yourself to decorate your home. Instead of a traditional square rug, however, why not make a rug in a circular or semi-circular shape? These rugs are an excellent project for practicing short-row knitting techniques. Knitted out of chunky yarn in garter stitch, they work up quickly. Knit several in different colors, for interchangeable décor options.

Tips & Warnings
For a nicely finished or decorative edge, consider picking up stitches and crocheting an edging, such as a picot edge, along the outside of the rug.
To create a whimsical pinwheel look, knit wedges out of various colors.
Use a nonskid pad under your rug to prevent slippage and potential injury.
