How do I Move a Spa or Jacuzzi?
A spa or jacuzzi can be a very relaxing addition to your home bathroom. Changing the location of the jacuzzi, either within the same room or to another area of the home, can be difficult because spas are bulky and rather heavy. However, with a few sets of hands, a dolly and some plywood, you can easily relocate your jacuzzi or spa to another area of your home. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Dolly
- 2 large pieces of plywood, at least 4 foot by 3 foot
- Large wrench

1
Disconnect the water supply to the jacuzzi. You will need to shut off the water supply and physically disconnect the plumbing from the jacuzzi. Use a wrench to turn the shut-off valve if you cannot turn it with your hand. Also use the wrench to turn the nuts and bolts that keep the plumbing pipes in place.

2
Turn the jacuzzi on its side or upward on one end. Gently slide the dolly underneath it, being sure to hold the jacuzzi in place so it does not tip over. You will need some additional hands to help hold the jacuzzi in place and move it, as it will be heavy and awkward.

3
Place a piece of plywood on the floor in the direction that you want to move the dolly and jacuzzi. You will need a hard, flat surface to move the jacuzzi, and flat plywood will help maintain a steady surface so the dolly's wheels don't get stuck on anything during the move.

4
Place another piece of plywood in the path you want to follow. Once you are off the first piece of plywood, someone will need to pick it up and move it behind this second piece. Keep repeating the process until you reach your destination.
-
5
Place the plywood over any stairs, using them as an inclined plane to move the jacuzzi, whether going upward or downward. The plywood will maintain the flat surface and keep the jacuzzi from getting stuck on any stairs.

6
Carefully slide the dolly out from under the jacuzzi and place the jacuzzi in its new location. Reattach the plumbing pipes, and check to be sure that the jacuzzi is in working order.
