MDF files are used with SQL Server databases. You don't need a computer specialist to help you restore an MDF file that has become corrupted. You can do it yourself through SQL by attaching it to a SQL database. When you attach it to the SQL database will restore all of the tables and the data on the file. You do not need any other software except for your SQL Server program to perform this task.

      Click on your "Start" button and scroll over to the "All Programs" button.

      Click on the "SQL Server" button on the "All Programs" menu and scroll down to the "SQL Server Management" tab. Click on it.

      Right click on the "Databases" button and then click on the "Attach Database" button. Click on the "Add" tab and choose your MDF file from the list.

      Type the name of your database into the box and click "OK." Wait for the process to finish.

      Click the "OK" button when it appears.
