How to Get Off the AOL Blacklist

How to Get Off the AOL Blacklist thumbnail
Being on the AOL email blacklist is bad for business.

If you are running a business, you may use email as a way to contact potential customers about sales or other news about your business. What you may not know is that your email may end up getting on the America Online (AOL) blacklist. Ending up on the AOL blacklist occurs when contacts mark your email as spam. If you end up on the AOL blacklist, your mail does not even reach AOL users. This can be bad for business, especially if many of your contacts use AOL inboxes. But you can take steps to resolve this issue.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your Internet protocol reputation using the IP checker on the AOL Postmaster website.

Make sure you know your whole IP address. You cannot check your IP reputation using a partial IP address.

    • 2

Check your email address list. Make sure you are sending emails only to users who want your mail.

    • 3

Add an "opt-out" option in the emails you send. This will make it easier for recipients to unsubscribe to your emails. Make sure you regularly remove users who opt out from your emailing list.

    • 4

Remove users from your mailing list if they report your mail as spam.

    • 5

Continue checking your IP reputation until it improves. Apply for the AOL White list when your IP reputation improves.
