Violet shampoos and conditioners are popular anti-brass products for people with white or platinum hair and are found at high-end salons and beauty supply stores. The violet tone of the shampoos counteracts the yellowing or bronzing that can infiltrate blond hair. You can cut your costs, however, by making your own violet-colored shampoo at home using the little packets of violet toner available for a few dollars at beauty-supply stores everywhere.
Purchase a little packet of violet toner from your local beauty-supply store. These small packets are only a couple of dollars and do not come with developer or peroxide.
Open the lid of your regular shampoo bottle.
Drop a full packet of violet toner in your shampoo bottle.
Close the lid and shake the mixture until the shampoo and toner are fully combined.
