How to Make Violet-Colored Shampoo at Home
Violet shampoos and conditioners are popular anti-brass products for people with white or platinum hair and are found at high-end salons and beauty supply stores. The violet tone of the shampoos counteracts the yellowing or bronzing that can infiltrate blond hair. You can cut your costs, however, by making your own violet-colored shampoo at home using the little packets of violet toner available for a few dollars at beauty-supply stores everywhere. Purchase a little packet of violet toner from your local beauty-supply store. These small packets are only a couple of dollars and do not come with developer or peroxide.

Open the lid of your regular shampoo bottle.

Drop a full packet of violet toner in your shampoo bottle.

Close the lid and shake the mixture until the shampoo and toner are fully combined.

Tips & Warnings
When choosing your base shampoo, it is best to choose a product geared toward hair-color maintenance, especially if you have dyed or bleached hair instead of naturally platinum hair.
Leave the product on your hair for three to five minutes before rinsing.
You can make a similar violet conditioner mix at home, following the same steps.
If your hair starts turning purplish, do not worry. The tint won't last and will wash out eventually.
Don't use this product every day if it starts making your hair turn purple. You can start using it once or twice a week--or as needed--to keep the brassiness away.
