How do I Add a Drawer to a Dock in Leopard?

As you often need to quickly access applications when using your Mac OS X computer, Apple utilizes the dock to streamline your work process. The Dock, first introduced in Mac OS X, received significant updates with the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard release. Now, you can add folders to the dock that act as drawers. If you click a folder drawer, a stack appears above the dock displaying the contents of your folder drawer. Adding drawers to the dock is a simple process, so you can add other folders alongside the "Applications," and "Downloads" drawers.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the folder from which you want to make your drawer from. Double-click the "Finder" icon at the far left of the task bar if you do not have a Finder window open.

    • 2

Click and drag the folder name from Finder to the dock at the far right alongside the Applications drawer. You have to drag this from a main Finder window--if you drag it from the sidebar in Finder, then it will remove the same shortcut from there.

    • 3

Click and drag the drawer left or right if you want to rearrange it.

    • 4

Click the drawer for it to open above the dock. You will now be able to quickly access the items in it.
