How to Repair Microsoft Autorun

Windows' autorun capability, AutoPlay, detects storage media inserted to your computer and automatically performs a pre-configured action. If you've enabled and reconfigured AutoPlay, but Windows' autorun capabilities still fail to work, you can run the Microsoft AutoPlay Repair Wizard and scan your system for any errors that may be interfering with autorun.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the Microsoft AutoPlay Repair Wizard from the Microsoft Download Center. Click "Open" or "Run" to launch the file immediately. The application will scan your computer for any problems.

    • 2

Click "Repair" to fix any errors the AutoPlay Repair Wizard has found. Click "Next."

    • 3

Select the drive where autorun fails to work. Click "Next." Click "Repair" if the application detects any errors.

    • 4

Click "Next." If the application has so far failed to detect any errors, follow the onscreen instructions to recreate the problem. Select "Repair" if available. Click "Next" to view the results.
