How to Receive Donations for a Nonprofit Book Festival
Nonprofit groups are always looking for new ways to raise money for their organizations. One way to raise money is to host a book festival. Members of the community can donate the books so that such a fundraiser is almost 100% profitable for the organization. Book festivals are easy fundraisers to organize and manage. They can yield money for any nonprofit organization while providing many hours of reading pleasure to those who buy the books.

Determine the date, time and location for the book festival. Secure any permits from the local authorities, and notify local police of the book festival date and times.

Advertise the book festival and a request for donations of books in local newspapers.

Organize "book drives" at local churches and schools. Place boxes at local stores where people can donate books. Ask the local library for any books that they have marked for disposal.

Assign a committee from the organization to make regular pick ups of books from the schools, churches and stores where the boxes are set up.

Examine any donated books for condition. Eliminate any books with missing or ripped pages, broken spines or other damage that would prevent reading. Assign a price to each book based on its condition.

Ask local stores to donate shopping bags for the day of the festival. This will allow customers to easily cart their purchases home.

Set up books on tables or shelves for easy reach by customers on the day of the sale. Have a cash box with change set up as well as volunteers to work the festival.
