How to Securely Connect a Sata Cable
SATA cables are starting to replace the wider, bulkier IDE cables because of their smaller size and higher data transfer rates. Hard drives and optical drives like DVD or Blu-ray drives use SATA cables to transfer information between the drive and the motherboard. An incorrectly installed SATA cable can result in poor data transfer rates, or even prevent your from accessing information on the drive. Make sure your SATA cables are connected securely when you install more drives in your computer.

Turn off your computer and unplug the power cable.

Insert the SATA connector into the SATA port on the hard drive.

Gently but firmly push the SATA connector into the port until you feel a soft "click."

Insert the other end of the cable into the SATA port on the motherboard and push gently but firmly until it also clicks into place. Your SATA cable is now securely connected.
