  1. Creating a Newsletter from Scratch

      Find the start icon, and click on it. Open Microsoft Word, and click "New." Click "Format." Click "Styles and Formatting," and a window opens. Click on the desired heading size, and type the title for the newsletter.

      Go to "Format" at the top of the page, and click on it. Click "Columns." Click on "one," "two," or "three," or type in the amount of columns in the box provided. Click "OK," and type the information in the newsletter. Once the text reaches the bottom, keep typing, and the words move on into the next column.

      Add a picture by clicking on "Insert," and click "Picture." Click on "Clip Art," and click on the image for the newsletter. If you want a picture from your files in the newsletter, go to "Insert," and click on "Picture." Click "From File," and click on the folder containing the picture. Find the picture, and click on it. Click on "Insert," and the picture goes into the newsletter. The picture shows up on the page where the typing insert bar is blinking.

      Click on "Format," and click "Boarder and Shading." Click on the tab labeled "Page Boarder," and click the icon next to the word "Box." Click "OK," and a border will appear around the text. If you want to add a border to a picture, right click on the picture in the pop up window. Click the "Boarder and Shading" tab. Choose your border, and click "OK." Try using the other boarder settings for different boarder effects.

    Using a Template to Create a Newsletter

      Open a blank word document by clicking "File," and then click "New." A window appears on the left. Choose "On my computer" under the templates list. Click "Letters and Faxes."

      Click on "Newsletter" If you want a different Newsletter template, click the button labeled "Template on Office Online" Type the word, newsletter, in the search box, and click "enter." This page displays newsletter templates available for use with Microsoft Office.

      Click on the desired newsletter template, and click download. Follow the wizard set up. The template opens in a new word document. Click on the areas, and type over them with the information you want in the newsletter.
