How do I Troubleshoot a Xerox 6204?
The Xerox model 6204 is a wide format copier and printer designed for large documents. The maximum dimensions the 6204 can copy are 36 inches wide by 49.2 inches long. Media must be a minimum of 11 inches wide for use in the copier. Diagnosing possible causes for a problem when it occurs is the first step of the troubleshooting process. After the source of an issue has been discovered, complete the troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem.

Check that the power switch is in the "On" position if the exposure lamp does not illuminate. Make sure the power cord is securely connected to the wall outlet as well as the back of the printer.

Connect the IEEE 1394 cable to the controller and the scan system if the control panel displays a clock face image continuously and the system does not initialize. The printer cannot initialize if the data cable is loose or disconnected.

Lift the document handler if the display shows a "Scanner Not Ready" message. Turn off the scan system and the printer. Turn the scan system back on and wait for the display to show a "P." Turn the printer back on.

Press the "Start" key if the scan system does not automatically scan when a document is inserted. If automatic scanning is not enabled, scans will not start by themselves.

Run the diagnostic test if the scan system is measuring the width of originals incorrectly. Press the main button. Scroll up or down to "Diagnostics." Scroll to "Scanner Diagnostics." Select "Component Tests." Select Sensors. The diagnostic will run on the detection sensors.
