Clean camera lenses take great pictures.

Camera lenses are delicate pieces of equipment in a photographer's arsenal. They also have a big effect on the quality of the pictures taken. When left for extended periods of time, cameras may accumulate dust or debris on the lenses. Taking proper care of these lenses should be a top priority for any photographer from amateur to professional. Therefore, when lenses become invaded by a foreign particle such as fungus, you should take good care to eliminate the threat to great photographs.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any loose particles of fungus from the lens with a blower. Brush any persistent loose fungus particles off with the camel hair brush.

    • 2

Clean the lens with lens-cleaning fluid by dripping some on the microfiber cloth or lens tissue. Move the cleaning implement of your choice around in a circular motion. Repeat the process with a fresh cleaning implement until the fungus is all gone.

    • 3

Bring the camera to a repair shop if the fungus is not coming out after several cleanings or is an internal problem. Do not attempt to disassemble the camera on your own.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always drip lens-cleaning fluid onto the cloth and not the lens.

  • Do not clean your camera too frequently.
