You can fix a cracked LCD display screen yourself with little difficulty.

One of the biggest problems with LCD monitors is that they are fairly fragile. Once an LCD display screen is cracked or broken, it cannot be repaired. A new LCD screen will have to be purchased. In the case of a desktop computer, a new monitor will need to be purchased. However, if you own a laptop, you can repair the screen yourself and save the cost of parts and labor to hire technician to fix it for you. The more experienced you are with computer repairs the easier it will be, but even a novice can do it with relative ease.

Step 2

Locate the covered screws in the area of your LCD monitor, as well as the covers to the screws (the covers will be either rubber or plastic). Remove the covers, then use the screwdriver to remove the screws.

Step 3

Remove the plastic frame that surrounds the LCD screen and set it aside. It should come right off after you have removed all of the screws. Be very careful when handling the plastic frame because if it gets broken or damaged, you will have to buy a new laptop as stores do not sell replacement frames for LCD screens. If there are any cords or cables plugged into the LCD screen, disconnect them.

Step 4

Remove the cracked LCD display screen and slide the replacement screen in. If necessary, reconnect the cables and plugs into the LCD. Screw the frame back on so that it properly surrounds the replacement LCD screen just as it did the old one. Replace the screw covers.

Step 5

Put the battery back into the computer and plug it back in if needed. Turn the laptop power back on.
