How do I Raise the Vietnam Flag?
Each country has its own customs and regulations governing the public display of national flags. In the United States, it is perfectly acceptable to display the flags of foreign nations, such as the national flag of Vietnam. However, there are certain guidelines in the United States Code (Title 4, Chapter 1) regulating the display of international flags. With a little preparation, you can celebrate your Vietnamese heritage by raising the Vietnamese flag at home, and you can also avoid accidentally violating proper flag etiquette. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Raise the national flag of Vietnam at home on a single flagpole. The five-pointed star in the center of the flag should be oriented with one point upwards and two points downwards. It is not a violation of the US flag code to display the flag of a foreign nation without also displaying the US flag.
-
2
Display the American and Vietnamese flags together on separate flagpoles. The US flag code forbids the display of any national flag on the same flagpole with the US flag.
-
-
3
Check that the American and Vietnamese flags are of approximately the same size.
-
4
Check that the two flagpoles (one for the US flag, and one for the Vietnamese flag) are of equal heights.
-
5
Display American and Vietnamese flags that are the proper size for your flagpole height. Fly a 3 by 5-foot flag on a 15 or 20-foot flagpole, and fly a 4 by 6-foot flag on a 25-foot flagpole.
-
6
Display the American and Vietnamese flags so that the American flag appears to the left of the Vietnamese flag when viewed from the street.
