How to Build a Model Car From Recycled Material

How to Build a Model Car From Recycled Material thumbnail
You can make a model of a car out of recycled materials.

On a rainy day, it can be difficult to keep your children occupied. Luckily, your children can be easily entertained by making small crafts. For example, a model car can be created out of recycled materials, such as a cardboard box. Once the car has been constructed, your children can customize it using acrylic paint to give it their own personal touch. Your children can then use the car during pretend play or to hold their stuffed animals.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn a cardboard box upside down on a table or counter top.

    • 2

Use scissors to cut out flaps on two opposing sides. These will be the doors of the car.

    • 3

Cut out four half circles out of the bottom edge of the box. Cut out the half circles on the same opposing sides as the doors. These will be the wheel wells.

    • 4

Hot glue an empty oatmeal container underneath each of the wheel wells. These will be the car's wheels.

    • 5

Use markers and acrylic paint to decorate the car with specific features, such as windshield wipers, door handles, hub caps and lights.

    • 6

Paint the outside of the oatmeal containers black to resemble tires.

    • 7

Allow the paint to dry completely before playing with the model car.
