How do I Stop a Folder From Opening at Windows Startup?

If a folder is opening up automatically as you turn on your computer, that means that it has been added to the Windows "Startup" folder. While there are a few different ways that you can make a program open on Windows startup, you can only do this to a folder by adding it to a specific location in your "Start" menu. Getting the folder to stop loading when Windows starts involves removing it from this location.

Instructions

1. Click "Start."

2. Click "All Programs."

3. Click "Startup."

4. Right-click on the shortcut icon for the folder that you no longer wish to load when Windows does.

5. Click "Delete." Click "Yes" to confirm your action and delete the folder. You will not be deleting the entire folder from your computer, so don't worry. Instead, you are just deleting the shortcut icon that is making the folder load during startup. Once this icon is gone, the folder will no longer load automatically.
