Use a composite cable with color-coded plugs to hook up a VCR to satellite TV.

The signal for satellite service comes in through a receiver that unscrambles the programming for playback on a TV. By hooking up a VCR between the receiver and television, you can record satellite programming to videotape or watch shows by leaving the VCR turned on. Use two sets of composite AV cables with color-coded plugs to transmit signals from the receiver to the VCR and connect them to the TV.
