How to Convert MOV to WMV in Open Source
Windows Media Video (WMV) is Microsoft's proprietary video format. It is used for video in all of its media devices including XBOX 360 and Zune. MOV (or Quicktime) files are Apple's propitiatory media format. It is not difficult to move data from MOV to WMV format with video transcoding software. There are many open source video transcoders, such as Avidemux, FFmpeg and Handbrake, and each of them has their forte.

Open your choice of video transcoder.

Go to the File menu and select the MOV file you would like to transcode.

Go to the File menu again. Choose "Export as." Type in the desired path of the WMV file; for example, "C: Media\Movies\new.wmv."

Change the output format settings to WMV and select the codec you will use to do the transcoding, such as FFmpeg or H.264 Sorenson, among others.

Adjust the frame rate and frame size and begin the transcoding.
