How do I Recover Deleted JPEG Files?

JPEG files are a type of image file supported by most image editing programs, even the ones that come pre-installed on your computer. If you have many JPEG files on your computer, they can take up valuable disk space on your computer's hard drive. Sometimes when deleting some of them to free up more disk space, you might accidentally delete some that you didn't intend to delete. Luckily, this mistake is not irreversible because you can recover deleted JPEG files.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click on the Recycle Bin icon that is located on your computer's desktop.

    • 2

Click on the JPEG file that you want to recover to select it. The file becomes highlighted once it's selected.

    • 3

Click "Restore this Item" from the "Recycle Bin Tasks" listed in the column on the left-hand side of the "Recycle Bin" window. The JPEG file is restored to the location from where it was deleted.

Tips & Warnings

  • Hold down the "Control" (CTRL) key to select more than one JPEG file to recover at a time. Then click "Restore Selected Items."

  • If the deleted JPEG files aren't in the Recycle Bin, you won't be able to restore them.
