How to Rotate the Desktop Background thumbnail
Edit your background image with Microsoft Paint.

Windows provides few options for editing your Desktop Background. It lets you resize it or tile it, but beyond that, you must edit the image with image software. Paint, the free image-editing software that comes with Windows, rotates images. Use it to rotate your background and to edit it in other ways as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Right click on a blank part of your desktop. Select "Personalize."

    • 2

Click "Desktop Background" from the lower part of the window that opens. A gallery of pictures will appear, and it will include your current desktop background image.

    • 3

Right click your current image. Scroll to "Open with" and select "Paint."

    • 4

Click "rotate" from the ribbon's "Image" tab. Choose from the rotation options.

    • 5

Click the save icon at the top of the screen. If the file successfully saves, your desktop background will rotate. If a message tells you Windows denies you access to the file, press the Alt, F and A keys. Save your edited file to a different folder.

    • 6

Switch to the Desktop Background window which you opened. Click "Browse" and navigate to your newly edited image.
