How do I Make a Signature in Adobe Photoshop?

You may rely on Adobe Photoshop, the graphics component of the Adobe Creative Suite software package, to edit your photos, but the program's tools allow much more than just tinkering around with pictures. When you need a way to sign documents digitally, such as requests for proposals or letters of intent or anything else that has to show proof of your review, look to Photoshop to create a digital signature.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Photoshop, click "File" and select "New." Name the file "Signature" and set your preferred dimensions, such as 4 inches by 2 inches Pull down the "Mode" menu and click "RGB Color." Click the "Transparent" button under the "Contents" section. Click "OK" and the Photoshop workspace opens.

    • 2

Pull down the "View" menu and click "Fit on Screen." This won't increase your file size; it just gives you more room on the screen.

    • 3

Double click the top left square of the "Color Picker," which is the two overlapping colored boxes on the "Tools" palette. Select a black or blue paint color or the color "ink" you want for your signature. Click "OK."

    • 4

Click the "Paintbrush" tool, pull down the "Brush" menu and select a solid, round brush head such as "#9."

    • 5

Position your cursor at the left side of the "Signature" box and draw your signature in script, starting with your first name, any middle name or middle initial and then your last name.

    • 6

Pull down the "File" menu and click "Save As." Select "GIF" from the "Format" menu, the only option that allows transparent backgrounds so your signature can go on anything. Save the file to your computer.
